Stranorlar Regional Training Centre was officially opened in 2002 following the establishment of the Water Services National Training Group. The Centre is located on Railway Road in Stranorlar, adjacent to the Stranorlar and Ballybofey Waste Water Treatment Plant. The Centre is one of the five centres built nationwide to provide training as set out in the National Training Programme for the Sanitary Services Sector. The Centre now caters for the Water Services, Roads, Environment and Fire Services training needs of Local Authority personnel in Donegal County Council, Sligo County Council, Cavan County Council and Monaghan County Council in addition to providing high quality training to other public and private sector organisations.
Stranrolar Regional Training Centre houses two lecture rooms which cater for 25 people each. Both rooms are equipped with integrated audio visual equipment to allow presentation delivery using a variety of technologies. The rooms can be combined to accommodate up to 50 people. The Centre also has a state of the art IT Training suite which caters for up to 13 people and a large Board Room which is ideal for meetings.
The Centre also boasts a large outdoor covered training area and an indoor practical training area area complete with a range of plant and equipment which are ideal for the delivery of training courses which focus on practical skills. The Centre also has a dedicated construction plant training area with an onsite classroom which caters for up to 12 people.
The Centre has a state of the art Water Leak Detection Facility and a purpose built Confined Space Facility, built to City and Guilds specification with all its own Breathing Apparatus equipment.
The Centre also has dedicated canteen facilities and ample car parking is available. Catering and room hire can also be arranged for a range of meeting and training events.
Stranorlar Regional Training Centre is an Approved Training Organisation registered by Solas as an accredited centre under the Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS). A number of the Centres trainers are listed on the National Trainers Register and one of the Centres staff is qualified and appointed as an Internal Verifier.
Stranorlar Regional Training Centre is accredited to deliver City and Guilds Confined Space training (Low Risk, Medium Risk, High Risk and Emergency Search & Rescue).
Stranorlar Regional Training Centre is the only ROI registered training provider accredited under ITSSAR (Independant Training Standards Scheme and Register). The SRTC deliver courses under this accreditation for all Plant type courses that are not accredited by SOLAS.
The Centre is approved by IT Carlow for delivery of the Road Programme Management Programme for Local Authority Roads Staff.
